Cadaveric Masterclass in Robotic Low Anterior Resection- LCA preservation, single circular anastomosis and turnbull cutait operation
This course will provide a structured hands on approach to several advanced robotic techniques that have the potential to improve both oncological quality and functional outcomes in rectal cancer surgery. These are single circular rectal anastomosis and the turnball-cutait anastomosis.
Description
The objectives are:
- Isolation and preservation of the left colic artery with skeletonisation of the inferior mesenteric artery and complete apical lymph node dissection.
- Robotic splenic flexure mobilisation using a standardised approach.
- Stepwise robotic total mesorectal excision, including anterior, posterior, right and left pelvic dissections, with emphasis on correct planes and autonomic nerve preservation.
- Construction of a single circular, crossover-free, dog-ear-free colorectal anastomosis.
- The Turnbull–Cutait delayed coloanal anastomosis as an option for carefully selected patients wishing to avoid a diverting stoma.
