The HIFLIR (High Fidelity Laparoscopic & Robotic) Course is an advanced full-day procedural training programme designed for ST5–ST7 trainees seeking intensive operative experience in complex laparoscopic and robotic surgery.

Open to Surgical Trainees
Participants will:
- Perform advanced laparoscopic and robotic procedures using high-fidelity real tissue surgical training models.
- Train on an individual dedicated model throughout the course, enabling sustained hands-on operative practice and refinement.
- Benefit from increased faculty presence with consultant-led supervision and continuous technical feedback.
- Undertake a full day of immersive training focused on advanced operative technique, surgical judgement, and operative efficiency.
- Experience personalised pathology-based simulation replicating complex operative scenarios.
- Develop advanced laparoscopic and robotic competencies including dissection strategy, haemostasis, suturing, anatomical recognition, and complication management.
- Gain exposure to uncommon and technically demanding surgical scenarios in a controlled training environment.
- The course uses personalised high-fidelity real tissue simulation models combined with expert faculty supervision, pathology-specific simulation, and structured OSATS-based assessment to support advanced technical and operative development.
OSATS Assessment (ST5–ST7 | RCOG AM Curriculum)
Assessment is aligned with OM formative OSATS and RCOG Advanced Microskills (ST5–ST7), including:
- Laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy and suturing (OM formative OSAT)
- Laparoscopic myomectomy and suturing (OM formative OSAT)
- Laparoscopic and robotic hysterectomy (OM formative OSAT)
- Laparoscopic excision of endometriosis including bladder, bowel, and ureteric repair (OM formative OSAT)
- Sigmoidoscopy (OM formative OSAT)
- Cystoscopy and ureteric catheterisation (OM formative OSAT)
- Robotic assisting and console surgery (OM formative OSAT)
Course Booking & Deposit
A refundable deposit of £150 is required to secure your place on the course via a registration payment link.
This confirms attendance, with the intention that remaining course fees may be supported via deanery funding (subject to confirmation).
The £150 deposit will be fully refunded upon attendance. In cases of non-attendance without appropriate notice, the deposit may be retained.
