HIFLIR Intermediate Laparoscopic & Robotic Skills Course

Course price set at £950. £150 refundable deposit request upon registration. Outstanding amount payment subject to Deanery approval. The HIFLIR (High Fidelity Laparoscopic & Robotic) Course is a full-day, hands-on procedural training programme designed for ST1–ST4 trainees, supporting progression through deanery training objectives using high-fidelity real tissue simulation models.

Description

Open to Surgical Trainees
Participants will:
  • Perform core laparoscopic and robotic procedures using high-fidelity real tissue surgical training models with direct expert instruction and real-time feedback.
  • Work on an individual dedicated model throughout the course, maximising hands-on operative time and procedural repetition.
  • Benefit from enhanced faculty-to-delegate ratios, allowing for closer supervision, personalised teaching, and targeted technical coaching.
  • Undertake a full day of immersive practical training focused on operative technique, surgical decision-making, and safe procedural practice.
  • Experience pathology-based simulation with models personalised to reflect relevant surgical pathology and operative scenarios.
  • Develop confidence in laparoscopic and robotic skills including tissue handling, dissection techniques, ergonomics, suturing, and procedural flow.
  • Gain structured exposure to operative challenges and variability encountered in real-world surgical practice.
  • Receive formative feedback aligned with OSATS principles to support competency development and training progression.
  • The course provides structured laparoscopic and robotic skills development in an immersive, supervised surgical learning environment with enhanced faculty input and personalised operative training.

OSATS Assessment (ST1–ST4 | RCOG AM Curriculum)
Assessment is aligned with OM formative OSATS and RCOG Advanced Microskills (ST1–ST4), including:
  • Camera driving and port insertion (OM formative OSAT)
  • Use of energy devices including laparoscopic salpingotomy and salpingectomy (OM formative OSAT)
  • Laparoscopic adhesiolysis (OM formative OSAT)
  • Introduction to laparoscopic suturing and ovarian cystectomy techniques (OM formative OSAT)
  • Robotic assisting and introduction to robotic surgery principles (OM formative OSAT)
